Break out Box for Neptune Kit
54 reviewsA very easy beginner soldering project. This kit comes with all the parts you need to assemble the break out box and takes about 15 minutes to assemble.
This robust terminal box allows up to six digital devices to be easily connected to the I/O port of the Neptune Apex aquarium controller. Unlike similar input boxes from Neptune, ours features heavy duty spring terminals, with a separate common terminal for each input. This is very important, as a shared screw terminal becomes very unwieldy when you try to shove six wires into one small hole. With ours, just push each in by pressing on the tab, and releasing the tension to lock it in place.

Once I found a clear view of what I was supposed to do it was easy. The avast website how to video didn’t show a close enough view to distinguish what poles you were supposed to solder.
I bought the build your own kit because I wanted to try my hand at soldering. I've learned I'm not very good at soldering, but was able to heavy hand my way through it and bottom line, it worked. the box itself looks great and it is so easy to attach my float switches and any other switch I might want to add. No instructions came with the kit, but a quick search on you tube turned up several videos on how to build.
I purchased the Avast Marine Breakout Box as part of an expansion to my Apex system. The quality of the parts, and easy to follow assembly video, made this kit come together in a very short time. Highly recommend. It would be great to see more DIY kits that support the Breakout Box like a button / switch combo, etc.
