We are excited to share that Avast Labs is now officially on Printables with a verified account. You can find our page HERE or at https://www.printables.com/@AvastLabs.
This is a natural next step for us. Avast has always lived at the intersection of reefing, fabrication, problem-solving, and a little pirate-style experimentation. Over the years, 3D printing has become an increasingly important part of how we work, not just as a prototyping tool but as a real part of our manufacturing process. What started as a way to test ideas faster has grown into a core part of how we design, build, refine, and support products here in our own facility.
Our print farm works alongside our traditional machining, CNC, and fabrication equipment every day. In other words, this is not a side hobby for us. It is part of the real engine behind how we bring ideas to life. Some printed parts go directly into products, some help us fixture or improve production, and some open the door to concepts that simply would not make sense to machine the old way. The ability to move quickly, test aggressively, and improve constantly is a huge part of what keeps Avast Labs moving.
That same mindset is exactly why Printables makes sense for us.
We did not want this page to be just another place to dump a few files and forget about them. Our goal is to build a useful, growing library that supports modern reefing in practical, creative, and accessible ways. We are starting with a few early listings, but this is only the beginning. Over time, we plan to add more replacement parts, accessories, fun kits, and experimental ideas that support both our products and the reefing community as a whole.
Some of these files will be simple and utilitarian. A replacement part that keeps a product working. A small accessory that makes a setup cleaner or easier to use. A bracket, adapter, or improvement that solves a real problem at home. Others may be more experimental. That is part of what Avast Labs is all about. Not every idea needs to fit neatly into a retail box on day one. Sometimes the best ideas start as a small file, a remix, or a community-driven improvement.
That is also one of the most exciting parts of being on Printables. Reefers are tinkerers by nature. Every tank is a little different. Every stand, sump, controller board, feeding routine, or maintenance process has its own quirks. 3D printing gives hobbyists the ability to customize their systems in ways that were almost impossible a decade ago. Instead of waiting for a manufacturer to offer the exact thing you need, you can adapt, improve, repair, and personalize your setup in real time.
We believe that is a big part of the future of reefing.
Modern reefing encompasses more than just lights, pumps, and controllers. It emphasizes flexibility, repairability, and empowering users with greater control over their home systems. Products should not end at purchase but continue to improve through support, accessories, updates, and community involvement. Therefore, this page is more than a simple file library; it reflects a broader commitment to how reef products integrate seamlessly into modern households.
This approach involves several key principles:
- Providing official replacement parts when appropriate
- Sharing useful accessories and upgrades to enhance existing products
- Encouraging creative projects beyond our standard catalog
- Recognizing that some of the best ideas originate from the community
As this page grows, we hope it becomes a place where reefers can find not only official files from Avast Labs but also inspiration for how 3D printing can be part of their reefkeeping workflow. Whether that means a simple accessory, a clever remix, or a totally new idea, we want this to be a living extension of the inventive spirit that has always driven our work.
We are proud to be building in the USA. We are proud to be using 3D printing as a real production tool. And we are proud to be taking another step toward a more flexible, modern, and community-supported future for reefing.
We have just a few listings up now, but we plan to keep adding to the page over time. More replacement parts. More accessories. More fun kits. More little ideas that make reefing easier, more customizable, and a bit more pirate.
